The Centre for Dialogue and Spirituality in the World's Religions (CDS-WR) is designed as a research centre that will (1) initiate and engage in on-going research projects, (2) provide a forum for dialogue among men and women of the world religions, (3) publish on-going research and educational materials in textual and video formats, and (4) provide public education in the area of dialogue and spirituality.
The Centre will also offer lectures, workshops, and seminars in the dialogue and spirituality of the world's religions. It will provide a forum to bring together people from Buddhist, Confucian, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Sikh, Shinto, Taoist, Native, and other world faiths. It is currently working on educational DVDs on "Ritual & Music in India: The Hindu Festival of Holi & Sufi Music (Qawaali) at Nizamuddin," "Glimpses of Japanese Spirituality," "The Kumbha Mela," and "Machu Pichu."
Founded by Dr. M. Darrol Bryant, long-time Professor of Religion and Culture at Renison University College, University of Waterloo, the Centre will be housed at Renison University College and it will have a virtual home on the World Wide Web.
It will have an international/interreligious advisory board that will annually review the work of the Centre and advise it on its proposed activities. That Board currently includes Dr. Huston Smith (USA), Dr. S. A. Ali (India), Dr. Dennis Hirota (Japan), Dr. Ramon Mujica (Peru), Dr. Mohinder Singh (India), Dr. Constantine Mwikamba (Kenya), Sri Shrivatsa Goswami (India), Dr. Alon Goshen-Gottstein (Israel), Dr. Ursula King (UK), and the Venerable Doboom Tulku (Tibet/India).
